Job Title: Machinist
Pay rate: $18-25 per hour based on experience

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machinist to join our team. The Machinist will be responsible for operating and maintaining machining equipment to produce precision parts and components according to specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a variety of materials, including metals and plastics, and be proficient in reading technical drawings and blueprints.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operate and set up conventional and CNC machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drills to fabricate parts and components.
  2. Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements and tolerances.
  3. Select appropriate tools, materials, and cutting speeds for each job, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  4. Perform precision machining operations, including turning, milling, drilling, boring, and threading, to achieve required dimensions and surface finishes.
  5. Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality standards and meet production deadlines.
  6. Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure conformance to specifications.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, such as tool wear, machine malfunctions, or material defects.
  8. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including routine maintenance of machines and equipment.
  9. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  10. Collaborate with engineers, production supervisors, and other team members to optimize manufacturing processes and improve product quality.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in machining or related field preferred.
  2. Proven experience as a machinist, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
  3. Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machining centers and manual machining equipment.
  4. Strong knowledge of machining techniques, tooling, and materials, including metals, plastics, and composite materials.
  5. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.
  6. Excellent attention to detail and precision in machining operations.
  7. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining issues effectively.
  8. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  9. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and machining processes.
  10. Commitment to safety and adherence to established safety protocols.
