The Graphic Designer / Electronic Pre-Press Operator is responsible for creating and preparing high-quality digital artwork for both print and digital platforms. This role combines creativity with technical expertise—designing marketing materials, packaging, and visual content while ensuring all files are press-ready and meet production standards.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and understands both the creative and technical sides of printing and production.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Creative Tasks
• Create and design marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, signage, packaging, and social media content.
• Develop creative concepts aligned with client branding and project objectives.
• Maintain consistency in typography, color, and layout across all materials.
• Collaborate with clients, production teams, and management to ensure design intent meets requirements.
Pre-Press & Production Tasks
• Review and prepare electronic files for print accuracy (bleeds, crop marks, imposition, resolution, and color space).
• Perform color correction, trapping, and layout adjustments for optimal print quality.
• Convert files into press-ready formats (PDF/X standards).
• Operate RIP and proofing systems; verify color calibration and image sharpness.
• Communicate with press operators to identify and resolve print file issues.
• Maintain organized digital archives and project documentation.
Qualifications:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat).
• Knowledge of Enfocus PitStop, pre-press workflow, or similar software is a plus.
• Understanding of CMYK color management, trapping, bleed, and print production workflow.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience in commercial printing or packaging industry preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
• Fast-paced production or office environment.
• Requires sitting or standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of materials (up to 25 lbs).
• Must be comfortable working with computers, printers, and pre-press equipment.
